My Story
I spent the first half of my life feeling like something was "wrong" with me. That I was too sensitive, felt too much, cried too much, saw too much, knew too much, sensed too much...
I felt misunderstood, excluded, made fun of for being "different", struggled with trusting others & knowing who my true friends were. I felt very alone & wondered if anyone else was feeling the same things as I was. I thought I was the only one going through these struggles & everyone else had it "figured out". I guessed that they must all be in on some secret way of being that I missed out on & I might feel this way the rest of my life. I took solace in my alone time in nature as I felt more acceptance & ease there than I did with the people around me. I felt like I was born to the wrong family, like I didn't belong. In my sensitivity I perceived all issues around me to be my fault.
In my teens I struggled with anxiety, depression & disordered eating.
.....
Until I discovered others who were on the same path, who had the same sensitivities, understandings, awareness of life. & I felt AT HOME. I knew that I belonged, & that we were all striving for the same unified thing. I felt deeply seen & understood. I trusted I could be myself fully around this community. I could show all of my shades & venture to the depths of my soul, knowing I would be held, supported and appreciated. That I belonged.
This sense of belonging in a community that was aspiring towards common goals was deeply life-changing. I knew that we were all headed in the same direction & supporting each other to grow & show up authentically as our True Selves, slowly stripping away all of the falsity we had learned & been programmed with by society.
That was over a decade ago, & since then I have been living a life of thriving connected community wherever I go. And it keeps getting better!
8 years ago I saw a need to extend this conscious community space to my peers & began holding spaces for sisters to come together & connect in the depths of their Being, be seen, heard & witnessed in their journeys of growth, connecting with our common challenges & learning our ways to overcome the obstacles we faced.
We all need to belong. This is a fundamental human necessity. Without this, it is difficult to live a fulfilling life.
